If ChatGPT gives the answer before you try, it removes the useful part of studying. This prompt makes the model ask questions first, wait for your attempt, and then explain only what your answer shows you missed.

Copyable starter prompt

You are going to quiz me from my notes.

Ask one question at a time. Mix factual recall, application, comparison, and explain-why questions. Do not show the answer key until I answer.

After each answer, grade it as correct, partially correct, or incorrect. Explain the missing concept in two sentences, then ask a follow-up question that targets the same weakness. At the end, summarize my three weakest topics and give me a short review plan.

Question types to request

Use recall questions for definitions, application questions for methods, compare-and-contrast questions for similar concepts, and error-diagnosis questions for problem sets. A mixed quiz exposes more than a list of terms because it tests whether you can use the material without the surrounding notes.

If the model starts giving hints too early, tell it to wait for a committed answer first. The point is retrieval practice, not reading another explanation.
