Flashcards work best when each card tests one thing. A good AI flashcard prompt should ask for atomic front/back cards, cloze variants, examples, and traps, while flagging any card that depends on unsupported material.

You are turning my notes into flashcards.

Create atomic flashcards from the material below. Each card should test one fact, definition, process step, formula use, or contrast. Include:
1. front,
2. back,
3. source phrase from my notes,
4. card type,
5. common confusion,
6. difficulty.

Make cloze cards only when the missing word tests the real concept. Do not add facts that are not in my notes. Put unsupported or unclear cards in a separate "needs review" section.

Card quality checks

Reject cards that can be answered by recognizing the wording instead of recalling the idea. A strong card asks for one thing, has a specific answer, and includes enough context that it still makes sense next week. For formulas, make separate cards for meaning, units, when to use it, and a small worked example.

After generating the first batch, ask for the ten weakest cards to be rewritten. That second pass usually removes vague prompts like "explain photosynthesis" and replaces them with testable recall.
